My doctor says it is unlikely but I am only 47 and extremely stressed due to my husband needing a lung transplant. We've been waiting 10 months.l have always been regular, 28 days almost to the day but the last period l had was in November.l know I am not pregnant because, due to a medical condition, my husband is sterile.l was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing. Thanks!

Is it possible to have stress induced menopause

Yes it is -- and at 47 you're certainly old enough to go into menipause anyway.

But you can not be said to have gone through menopause until you've had no periods for a year and you're a LONG way from that yet.

I'd say yes. It happen to my Aunt when she was bitten on the lip by a dog and needed a lot of stitches. Her period stopped that day and she never had another one. She was 43.

I would not think it was menopause that was causing it - but stress can cause you to miss a period or two. You are a little young for it to be the ''real'' menopause. Your stress level is high enough for you to not have a period for a while, and it is undoubtedly just a temporary thing.
